CREATIVITY IN WORSHIP This was a talk that I shared with fellow worship leaders at His People. The subject was "Creativity in Worship". It was a talk based on my experience of leading teenagers in worship. I have also loaded the PowerPoint presentation that I used when presenting the talk. I had a video in the presentation and you must download it separately if you want it in your presentation

FOLLOW THE LEADER This was a chapter that I wrote for our internal worship leader's manual at His People. It is a 2-pager, fill in the scriptures kind of work chapter. I encourage you to go through it as the scriptures may highlight different perspectives to each person.

POP CULTURE AND WORSHIP I have found that our teenagers have different responses to different music styles. For example, when Pastor Mark integrates current chart toppers or famous songs in his messages, there is an undeniable change in the attitude of the listeners. They engage more, they release shouts of excitement... approval. And it is then that they lend us their ears and hearts even more. I have said it before, worship leaders need to identify the music that influences their teens and integrate it into worship Sundays otherwise worshiping God in song will become a "Sunday thing". I have a sneaking suspicion that the next generation of worshipers is yearning to engage with God in a new way, with a new sound. Their own sound. I need to know my flock, keep in touch or I may find that what I'm comfortable with may be the old wineskin that needs to make way for the new.
At igniteYOUTH we took three love songs, popular number one hits on radio and used them to transition our teenagers into a deep and meaningful experience with God. We only sung parts of the radio songs, but after the transition into worship, hearts were open to discover who this God was, this God that likes pop songs, that enjoys it when we sing love songs to Him. Below is an edited version of our worship time.
The songs were, Jesus Walks by Kanye West, No Air by Jordan Sparks and Superhuman by Keri Hilson and Chris Brown
