The mission of the worship team in igniteYOUTH is simple: To bring young people into an encounter with the living Christ.
What's the reality? What's the plan? It is only when those barriers are broken that teenagers are able to encounter God for who He truly is.
The truth is that young people need God to speak in their language and reach them through what they find attractive. The truth is young people desperately need Christ, but they are blinded by false perceptions about church, God and worship, stumbling blocks which keep them away or at a distance. These are issues that worship teams need to consider in order to be God's effective mouthpiece and instruments in bringing a generation to truly know Him.
As a worship team, we aim to break all stereotypes that we see creeping up in the hearts of our teens. Through music, we introduce them to the God of passion, the God who loves hip hop, the God who's into reggae, the God who sings over us and break dances, the God of silence and meditation. All genres of music have a purpose and in the hands of a discerning team, they can be powerful weapons that break down barriers between teenagers and God.
